Cleric calls for calm ahead of Ondo gubernatorial election

Cleric calls for calm ahead of Ondo gubernatorial election
-lauds Mimiko on Achievements

The Bishop of the Church of Nigeria - Anglican Communion, Akure Diocese, Rt. Rev. Michael Ipinmoye on Sunday appealed to political leaders in Ondo State to maintain the peace presently reigning in the state as the gubernatorial election draws nearer.
Ipinmoye, who stated this in his farewell charge during the Third Session of the Tenth Synod of the Diocese, held at the Cathedral Church of St David, Ijomu in Akure, also called on the Federal Government to address the issues of corruption and insecurity, particularly the untold hardship melted on Christians in some parts of the country.
The cleric while applauding the achievements of the Mimiko-led government which he said has transformed every facet of the State, said: “You know me that if you are not doing well I will tell it to your face and nobody can remove me as the Bishop of Akure except the Church of Nigeria. But I want to tell you that you are doing well. During your inauguration, you said that I will work for you and today, you have fulfilled your promise. You promised to touch every area of Ondo State. You have justified the number of awards given to you. I want to congratulate you, well done”.
Governor Olusegun Mimiko, in his remarks, called for calm and charged politicians to allow the wishes of God and the people to prevail in the forthcoming gubernatorial election.
He described poverty as the major bane of development in the country and noted that his administration has been working tremendously to tackle the menace.
“The only enemy we have is poverty and we are working day and night to tackle it. God does not create us to live in poverty. Our mission here is divine and we shall continue to work for our people” Mimiko said.
